Do I look like a drug addict?

Funny story...

A couple weeks ago, I was diagnosed with Hashimota's disease. It is a disease where my body is attacking the thyroid and I am extremely low on T3. This isn't a serious condition and it is actually quite common, but it has been really hard lately. My doctor prescribed some naltraxone to boost that T3. Okay, so this isn't the funny part yet. Keep reading...

So, I went to the pharmacy to pick up all my medications. I had to get a few different things because this is all experimental until we can figure out what dosage I need to take so I can feel better. When I got in there, a customer was being helped. The cashier seemed really friendly to this customer, so when she treated me like dirt, I was a little taken back! She was so rude to me that she even kind of shewed me off to help the next customer. As I was waiting for my prescription to be filled, I noticed the tech looked at me funny too, like I was some kind of freak. I thought maybe she just got in a really bad mood right when I showed up, but no. She was nice to the customers after me! I was SO confused. I couldn't figure out what I did wrong. I just kept looking down until they called my name. She handed me my prescription, barely even looked at me, and didn't even tell me they were out of one of the prescriptions I needed! I didn't notice until I got home and realized I only had 10 pills when I should have had 80. I really felt bad.

Well, come to realize, the drug they were giving me (naltrexone) is a drug to help drug addicts. Druggies take the naltrexone so they won't use their drug because the combination of the two makes them sick. So, when we figured it out I just started laughing! This problem I have causes me to be extremely fatigued and weak, so when I went in, I must have looked like a druggie! I don't think it is funny that they treated me so badly though.

I have been pretty sick and so it has been hard to do the easy, daily things. Derek has been an AMAZING husband and has picked up so much slack. I don't know what I would do without him. I do the best I can throughout the day, which isn't very much, and when he gets home, he does the rest: Makes dinner, gets the kids ready for bed, and helps pick up the house. I have been extremely blessed and I know this is just a learning experience that will help me become a stronger person. I know we are given trials for a reason and that Heavenly Father wouldn't give us anything we couldn't handle. I am just so grateful I have the Gospel in my life and that I have a strong Priesthood holder in my home. The power of the Priesthood is real and I have witnessed it in my home many times. I have such a strong testimony of this Gospel and I am so grateful I have something to lean on when I am weak.

Oh my heck Jeni that is so funny! I would be mad that they didn't review the meds with me. You are a sweet heart though. I hope this med will help you start feeling better.

Ah ha ha! I would have called the pharmacy to complain. That is still no excuse. Did you have the kids with you when you went to pick it up? That would have been funnier.

RUDE! That is all I have to say. Even if you were a drug addict, they shouldn't treat you that way. Did you get the rest of your pills? I hope you feel better soon! You are such a trooper!

that is crazy! funny, but still you shouldn't be treated that way - at least if you were a drug addict you would be doing something about it :)

Hey Jen - I am so glad that you were finally able to be diagnosed so they can start treating you and getting you feeling better. I have been thinking about you a lot lately and was glad to see you posted and that you were able to get some answers. How sad is that that you were treated so mean. It is pretty funny but at the same time sad that they automatically assumed you did drugs! I hope you get the medication worked out so you can start feeling better.
