Girls night out

Last night was probably one of the most fun nights I have had in a long time. Derek came home from work on Thursday and while I was teaching piano, I saw him put an envelope in the Christmas tree. After I got done, he told me to go open it. On the envelope it said:
To: Jeni and Bria
From: Derek and Erik
I kind of had a hunch as to what it was. The other day, I showed Bria "The Nutcracker" that I was in when I was seventeen. She was completely mesmerized. She loved it. I told Derek that I wanted to take her to see "The Nutcracker" and he told me that she was probably too young and she could go for part of her Christmas next year. Well, Bria has her Daddy wrapped around her finger because when she told him about it all excitedly, he went right out and bought the tickets. What a cute dad:)
Bria was so excited, she could hardly contain herself! She was running around the house with her ticket in her hand yelling, "Nutcracker and Clara!" I knew this was going to be worth every penny. Bria and I got all decked out for our night out. I always dreamed about the day I could take my little girl to the ballet. I didn't think it would come so fast though!
We sat in our seats and listened to the orchestra warm up. Bria was really worried because she couldn't see anything. I had to keep telling her that there wasn't anything to see yet. I started to worry a little bit because she was really wiggly, but as soon as the curtain came up, she didn't budge. Her eyes were glued to the dancers in awe. It was so fun to look down at her while the audience was clapping and to see her sitting straight up, clapping so vigorously!
At intermission, I asked her if she wanted to walk around to get out all our wiggles and she said, "No! I want to see it again!" She would not leave, because she didn't want to miss the second half! We had so much fun together and I was so excited to see my little girl be so happy and appreciate something that I love. All the way home she couldn't stop talking about the ballet. It was 10:00 by the time I got her in her bed and she was too excited to fall asleep. She kept telling me about the ballet until she fell asleep. Wow, I couldn't believe how much she loved it! I really enjoyed the performance, but my favorite part was watching my little girl light up. Thanks Derek for the perfect gift! I love you!

That is too cute! I love that she loves ballet just like her mommy! Derek is such a great husband and daddy!
That looks like it was sooo much fun! I bet she will remember that always. I love girls nights....You tell Ricky I said "good job dad"! That was so sweet of him to do.
That is so much fun! I remember my dad taking my sister and me to see it when we were little (not as little as Bria, though) and we loved it! Anytime we heard the music after that we would do our best ballerina imitations. I told Lance I want him to take me to that next year...we'll see. Maybe Eden and I would enjoy it more.
