4th of July

We had a really fun fourth because Derek took off almost a week to be with us.  We took a little vacation up North and did a few local things.  Our first stop was the Hill Aerospace Museum.  We met up with Derek's sister, Erin, and her kids.  The kids had so much fun together!

Erik LOVED getting into the aircraft and pretending he was flying.
Zak just hung out in his stroller.
Bria and Ainsley all dressed up.  Erik would NOT let us put the uniforms on him.  Bria had to have all of it on!  I thought she looked so cute in it!

Erik found the "hellodoctor".  He just loves helicopters.
Erik, Bria, Ainsley and Capri standing in front of what they thought, "Big Jet" off of Little Einsteins.

On Friday we headed up to Logan to see the fireworks.  We got up there a little early so we could go on a picnic up the canyon.  We drove around and showed the kids where we met, where Bria was born and of course the Logan temple, where we were sealed.  I don't know if they really were paying attention, but it was fun to reminisce with Derek.

After our picnic we headed over to one of the funnest places on earth... Aunt Carol's house!  She has every toy you can imagine and every treat and snack.  Any kid who walks into her house gets spoiled rotten!  She is just so much fun.  My cousin's kids came over and Bria and Erik got to play with them.  They got along so well and made really good friends.

Later, we drove over to the fireworks to stake out our spot.  The kids played with sparklers and just ran around.  I was surprised that we didn't need to entertain them.  They had cousins to play with and I just got to relax and talk with my family.  It was so fun.

Just waiting for the fireworks to start...

Then it got dark and the fireworks began.  Erik was really nervous and yelled, "Turn the fireworks down!  They're too loud!"  So Derek had to cover his ears the entire time.
Zak, however, loved them!  He was asleep and then woke up to watch a few minutes and then went back to sleep!

Saturday we went to Ryan and Emily's house to spend the night.  It is always a treat to stay there!  Emily makes the best food and the YUMMIEST desserts.  The crazy thing is that it is all gluten free and it still tastes better than most things we make!

We had a little too much fun on the swing set!

All the kids were inside coloring while we were jumping off swings except for Erik.  He had to try it too!  It was so fun to feel like a kid again!
We then had dessert, and went out to do our own fireworks.  I couldn't believe what we were shooting off!  We were worried that some of them were going to set houses on fire!  They were the best do it yourself fireworks I have ever seen!  And then we got a BIG surprise.  Jana, my best friend, showed up at like 10:30.  She and her family moved to South Carolina last year and we have missed them so much!  I knew they were coming to Utah to visit, but we weren't sure when exactly.  Well, as we were doing fireworks, a car slowly pulled up and just sat there.  Derek even said, "Who are these weirdos?"  And then they got out and started walking toward us and then I realized it was Jana and the kids and I were so excited!  My kids just love her and talk about her all the time, so we were really happy to see her.

On the 4th of July, we went to Lagoon because we heard it is usually dead that day and it sure was!  There were hardly any lines and we were able to get on ride after ride.  The kids loved not having to wait!

Erik on his favorite ride, the ferris wheel.  He doesn't like fast rides, but the rides high up in the sky, he just loves!

Bria and Daddy coming out of the Hydroluge.

Erik on the bumper cars.  He loved crashing into other cars!
 Zak just chillin!
Of course the helicopter is a hit
 Love these guys:)
At the top of the ferris wheel.  Derek and I were more nervous than Bria and Erik.  They just are not scared of heights!

After a fun trip, we were ready to go home.  We had so much fun as a family and we were so happy to have Daddy for all those days!
