Canada Part IV

We stopped to eat our lunch and then went straight for another lake to go wading in. We threw rocks in the lake for about an hour and even found pizza shaped rocks and pretended to eat them. Erik called them "Pippaz". Derek skipped some rocks and I just sat and relaxed with my feet in the water, looking at the amazing view and watch my kids have the time of their lives. I love how my kids appreciate the most simple joys in life.

Later that night, we went on a boat tour for the kids. It was kind of wierd paying for something like that when I practically grew up on a boat, but the kids really wanted to get on a boat and we just didn't have one! I am so glad we did though because the kids had a smile on their face the entire time and their eyes were so big at the marvels of the beautiful mountains and lake. My favorite part was when we docked and took a small walk to a waterfall. It was so beautiful and the kids just loved it! Luckily, there weren't a lot of people on the tour, so we got plenty of time to spend out in the front of the boat. We had a great time together.

On our way to our hotel that night we traveled on the "Going to the Sun Road". It was the most breathtaking drive I have ever been on. The road is in the heart of Glacier National Park and is 53 miles long. It is extremely windy and has some scary drop offs! I was glad I wasn't the one driving. My favorite part was passing "The Weeping Wall". Of course Derek gave our car a bath and went right under it. The kids got a kick out of that!

We thought this was funny- A mountain goat drinking oil.

Unknown said...: Okay now you are totally not a fun Dad if you don't make your kids squeal with delight when you have chance too. I love that he drove under the water. You got some GREAT pictures this day with Bria and the boat and cute Erik poking his head around Dad. I miss those kids more and more everyday. Bria's funny quotes and stories...

February

Bria came home from preschool today telling me, "I got to be the super cinnamon today!" After she explained she got to hold the flag and wear a hat I realized she meant super citizen! So cute!

We were eating ice cream at Arctic Circle and Derek asked Bria if she deserved her ice cream and she replied, "I am deserving!"

Bria came home from church with a piece of candy and split it in half so Erik could have some. She loves to share and I am so proud of her.

April

One morning, Derek went in to get the kids and Bria and Erik were on her bed with their hands in the air, screaming and pretending they were on a rollercoaster! So fun!

June

Bria told me she was having nightmares one night, but she got out of bed, knelt down and said a prayer and she told me, "Heavenly Father took my nightmares away."

September

Bria was diagnosed with a vasculitis disease and has had to take IBU profen for pain in her legs that it causes. Last night, Erik got a hold of the cup she takes her medicine in and she screamed, "Erik, no! Don't touch that! Your legs will hurt!" He looked down at the cup with big eyes and chucked it across the room!

February

I was getting ready for church and Erik came in my room and said, "Pretty mommy." What a little gentleman!

March

What kind of 2 year old boy does this?: Erik grabbed an apple, dragged a chair up to the sink so he could wash it, went to the towel to dry it, dragged the chair back, sat down, said a prayer and ate his apple:)

Erik was holding Zak and lifted up his shirt while saying, " I need to feed baby!"

April

We were eating pancakes and Erik got the syrup out of the cupboard. Derek said, "Erik knows the essentials" and Erik said, "I need essentials on my pancake." He now thinks syrup is called essential!

Erik loves his green, long sleeve shirt and begs to wear it every day. It is so hard to get him to wear anything else. Today, he came down with his green shirt on over his other shirt and it was backwards and inside out!

Erik ate a beef bouilion cube today thinking it was candy because it was wrapped in this red aluminum wrapping. Erik came up to me with his mouth full of brown goop and gave me this really perplexed look and then spit it all into my hand! Eeeww!

Erik loves to do my hair and one night he was doing Derek's with a little play kit the kids have and Derek was moving his head back and forth and Erik yelled, "Hold still Daddy! Hold still!"

Whenever we have salt on the table, Erik asks for the sprinkles!

Erik loves listening to our hearts and today he was trying to listen to his own heart. It was so funny watching him trying to put his face up against his own chest!

"Where are my flop flops? Oh! In the Spacket!"

Cannot catch this kid. He runs with his arms glued to his side while arching his back so that there is nothing to grab onto!

July

I love how Erik is always reminding me to be happy. If I am ever angry or upset at him, he looks at me with his big blue eyes and so sweetly says, "Mommy, don't be angry... Be happy!" I just love that kid.

August

Erik got to attend his cousin's baptism and that night in the tub, he decided that he should baptize himself and Bria. He put his arm to the square and laid his hands on Bria's head and dunked her and himself. At first I was worried because that is a sacred ordinance, but I then realized that he thought that too and that is why he was so excited to do it.

September

Derek said to Erik, "Ahoy Matey!" and Erik shouted back, "You aren't the captain!"

"Mom, come to the playground!" "Just a minute, Erik. We are reading books." FINE! You read your books" and he stomped off with a mad face.

We are trying to get ready for the ward campout, but it is pouring rain. Zak is sitting here by the window and Erik plops down next to him and is talking to him as if he is his own age. Erik says, "Zak is scared of the storm. Okay, let's say a prayer!" So he knelt down and prayed for the storm to go away. The most precious thing I have seen in a long time:)

We were leaving our ward party and Bria was not coming, so we all got in the car. Derek was just going to drive closer to the doors so we could wait for her, but Erik thought we were leaving her. He screamed, "NO! Don't leave Bria! She is important to me!"
